Carlow Opposes Governor Mills’s Proposed Supplemental Budget on Preliminary Vote

THE STATE HOUSE – Representative Nathan Carlow (R-Buxton), a member of the Legislature’s Appropriations Committee, voted in opposition to Governor Mills’s supplemental budget bill on a preliminary committee vote early this morning.

Representative Carlow’s full statement is below.

“Today, I voted against advancing Governor Mills’s supplemental budget bill to the full House of Representatives.

“I remain open to continued negotiation on the Floor, but the budget in its current form fails to address Maine’s most chronic needs; woefully underfunding nursing homes which are closing at alarming rates, failing to provide sustainable funding for Maine dairy farmers, and repealing bipartisan legislation that made historic investment in highway infrastructure.”

“I pledge to work with a bipartisan coalition of my colleagues to fix this badly worked budget so we can renew our commitment to Maine seniors, help our farmers, and restore our investment in roads and bridges.”
